Hi all,

Yesterday Adrian Shaughnessy tweeted on his feed the following:

Who knew the great Alejandro Jodorowsky was on Twitter? Over 100k people, that’s who. @alejodorowsky Spanish only.

When I read Spanish only, it sparked my curiosity both about who might this person be and what was people saying. I clicked and found the following quote:

Tus palabras no tienen cabida en mi alma.

I was intrigued. So I searched the net for more information about Jodorowsky. I found plenty! But part of what I read was very sad. His upbringing and I felt sad about this. When I read about his life, then the quote made sense to me. Translated it would be something like this:

There is no room for your words in my soul.

Because I have to make everything visual, I looked up for an image of wood suggesting a wall or a door. The words are arranged filling up gaps. I guess I understand what he means with this quote. Sometimes things hurt just too much and sometimes one has to decide what is going to affect us and what will not. It sounds harsh but when one analyzes it, it is simply a way of keeping things from being painful. Well, as usual, enjoy!

Hi all,

While thinking about what I would like to do next for my dailies, I came across this quote by Edgar Allan Poe: “All that we see and seem is but a dream within a dream.” Kind of a cross between the movie Vanilla Sky and Inception. My daughter loved it so enjoy!

Hi all,

Today's design is about a Bible verse I often pray about silently. Search me oh Lord and see if there is a grievous way in me and lead me to in the everlasting way. Psalm 139:23-24. I like that verse because it acknowledges our inability to be perfect and pure in our own. And because it is humbling and recognizes our need for God. I have been thinking about that lately. Hi all!

I found this quote by Socrates and I really liked it. To me the gods he refers to here can be considered the muses. I think that like the gods in mythology, the muses are temperamental and capricious, hence the name of this blog. Also I think that poetry elevates language from being an utilitarian tool of communication to a masterpiece of words. My favorite poets are Neruda and García Lorca. Enjoy!

Today's design is for Saturday May 15th. Went out for a walk today to a park and there was not much to take photos of except tall trees, which I did. They reminded me of Psalm 19. Enjoy!

Design for Monday April 12th. I have been so busy this week but took some time to do the design for this last Monday. So, I read this quote by Walt Disney and imagined people talking and planning or wishing something would happen and came up with this. Enjoy!

Wao! I made it to the 100th design!!! And to celebrate such occasion I decided to do a design based on something my son Aramis said to me today. We were talking about remembering things so we can talk about them later on. He looks at me puzzled and says “but what if it doesn't stay in my brain?” I started laughing and after wondering what to do for today, I thought, why not? I will do his phrase. He is delighted with the design and was giving me instructions. The handwriting is his and the photograph was taken a few months ago. He likes to wear his goggles around the house with his tools on his pockets. Enjoy!

Today's famous woman is Helena Rubinstein. Like Estee Lauder, Elizabeth Arden, and Mary Kay, she started her own make up business from one single face cream. Her story is a bit different than the rest. She was, based on what I read, temperamental and dare I say moody? She liked the arts and collected art. She was fiercely determined. She was quoted saying the following:

“I have always felt that a woman has the right to treat the subject of her age with ambiguity until, perhaps, she passes into the realm of over ninety. Then it is better she be candid with herself and with the world.”

There were other quotes I liked, such as the one where she says that there are no ugly women, only lazy ones. My Dad would have agreed with that. But the one I am using today about a woman's age reminded me of a famous poem by Jenny Joseph, that says all the things a woman who gets old should be able to do starting by wearing purple and a red hat that does not match. I thought these two thoughts went together well. And maybe I will start wearing purple more often just so people are not shocked when I start looking old. :-) For the texture I used a nice tutorial that can be found at Vector Tuts. Enjoy!
